If you've ever tried to explain to someone who doesn't have a dog why it matters so much, then you already know I don't need that explanation.

My three dogs all came to me in different ways. James was rehomed from his breeder because he was nervous and scared of people. Rosie had a luxating patella and her breeder couldn't keep her. And Pippa was meant to be temporary, she came to me while I waited for Rosie, a little anxious and uncertain, and she never left.

My own dog Mac was diagnosed with heart failure when he was seven. I had two years of not knowing when I'd lose him, taking him everywhere, trying to hold onto every moment. When he passed in 2019, those photos became the most important things I owned.

That's why I started Ina J Photography. Not just to take photos of dogs, but to create something you'll actually hold onto.

I'm not going to tell you that every session is perfect or that your dog will behave like a model. What I will tell you is that I'll capture who they really are, the personality, their quirks, the way they look at you, the moments that make you smile every day.

We start with a proper conversation.

Before anything is booked, you'll come into my studio in Jerrabomberra (or we'll jump on Zoom) so I can get to know you and your dog properly. Their quirks, their triggers, their favourite things. This is where I start designing your session around them, not around a generic session plan.

Your dog doesn't need to sit still, stay calm, or perform for the camera. I work with who they actually are... bouncy, anxious, distracted, or utterly relaxed. I've photographed over a thousand dogs and there hasn't been one I couldn't work with. That's not a boast, it's just what happens when you genuinely understand dogs.

Here's what I actually know about anxious, reactive, and sensitive dogs: I live with three of them.

All three of my dogs came to me with their own set of behaviours and fears. I've worked with a behavioural veterinarian and dog trainer on their care. And over six years and more than a thousand sessions with different types of dogs, I've developed an approach that's genuinely calm and unhurried because that's what works.
