A Second Chance at Life, a Lifetime of Capturing Love

When I was eight years old, life gave me a second chance.

A rare brain tumour meant I needed life-saving surgery—something unavailable in Indonesia, where I was born. My father, determined to give me the best chance, found a way to bring me to Australia for the operation. Thanks to his efforts, the surgery was successful, and two years later, a posting in Canberra allowed my family to call Australia home.

Living in Canberra didn’t just save my life—it gave me the opportunity to build a life filled with love, connection, and purpose.

WHY I DO WHAT I DO

Today, I get to spend my days doing what lights me up: capturing the bond between pets and their people.

It all started with my heart dog, Mac. He was my companion through so much of my journey, and when I lost him, I truly understood how precious it is to hold onto memories of the ones who bring us joy.

Now, my days are filled with the pitter-patter of little paws from James, Pippa, and Rosie. Every time I pick up my camera, I think about the love I have for my own dogs and how fleeting those moments can feel. That’s why I’m so passionate about creating timeless, meaningful artwork that celebrates the bond between pets and their families.

Your Story Matters Too

I created Ina J Photography to give pet parents the opportunity I wished I had more of – beautifully crafted portraits that not only capture their pet’s essence but also the connection they share.

Life has shown me how precious time is—whether it’s a second chance at life or the short time we have with our pets.

That’s why I pour my heart into every photography session, capturing the personality of your pet and the bond you share in a way that will last forever. I believe your pet’s story deserves to be celebrated, and it’s my mission to help you honour that story with stunning artwork you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

I understand the joy, challenges, and quirks that come with being a pet parent, because I live it every day with my three dogs. Whether your dog is energetic, anxious, or shy, I’ll make sure the session is fun, comfortable, and perfectly tailored to you and your pet.

Photography with me is more than just taking pictures; it’s about creating meaningful artwork that will become a treasured part of your home. I believe that every pet deserves to be celebrated, and every pet parent deserves to have those memories preserved in a way that brings joy every day.

Let’s create something beautiful together – not just for today, but for all the years to come.

MY LITTLE HELPERS

MAC

Mac was a special soul who lost his battle to heart failure at age 9 back in 2019. While his heart was struggling for two years, it was definitely a big heart with so much love to give.

Although he is no longer here, he is a big part of my life and still is to this day.

Losing him was hard and I am so glad I captured so many photos and memories of him. He is a huge part of why I have become a pet photographer and it is part of his legacy.

JAMES

James came into my life nearly three years ago when I was looking for a buddy for my other fur baby, Mac. This followed the loss of my first dog, Jaffa.

James was a nervous and scared dog when we met, but after spending time with Mac and I, his confidence grew, and he is now an outgoing dog who loves meeting new people (especially when this means getting lots of pats).

As a regular in front of my camera, James loves the model life and has perfected his adorable camera face.

PIPPA

Pippa was only meant to stay with me temporarily but I totally fell in love with her and she has become a part of my furever family. Like James, she was a scared little pup when I first got her but having shown her that I will protect her she has become more confident.

Pippa is a great model especially with her little bows. She loves doing the head tilts too when I talk to her .

ROSIE

Rosie recently came into my life in the middle of the pandemic in 2020. Rosie has such a funny personality and keeps me smiling and laughing all the time. Rosie was supposed to be a show dog but she had luxating patellas which was fixed by surgery. Her original mum wanted her to go to a good quiet home to someone who will take good care of her. I'm proud to be her mum.
