My Top Pet Photography Spots in Canberra

As a pet photographer in Canberra, I'm always on the search for gorgeous locations to capture wonderful photos of your pets. Canberra has a number of lovely locations that are ideal for pet photography. These are my top picks:

Yarralumla English Garden

The English Garden, located in the heart of Yarralumla, is a quiet paradise with beautiful pathways under the canopy of tall trees providing some lovely shaded areas. The garden's lush greenery and colourful flowers provide a great setting for capturing your pet's playful energy. Because of it's quiet environment, it's perfect for anxious dogs or dogs who get easily distracted. The garden is my top location as it's beautiful all year round with my favourite season for this location being autumn and spring.

Lake Burley Griffin

Lake Burley Griffin is one of Canberra's known landmarks. We usually meet down by the National Library or the National Gallery. At this location you get the picturesque Canberra scenery of the National Carillon and Telstra Tower. Down by the National Gallery side you also have the sculpture garden and the stunning James Turrell skyspace as a great location for those dogs who are not afraid of water.  The combination of water, plants, and famous Canberra architecture provides numerous photo options for both casual and posed portraits of your pets.

Fetherston Gardens

Fetherston Gardens is a hidden gem and an equally stunning location. This wonderfully planted garden boasts a broad range of flora, from towering trees to delicate flowers, providing a lively background for pet photography. Like Yarralumla English Garden, this location is also quite peaceful which is good for anxious dogs.

National Arboretum - Dairy Farmer Hills

Dairy Farmer Hills at the National Arboretum is a popular destination for those seeking breathtaking panoramic views and open areas. With beautiful Canberra landscape and open skies as the backdrop it creates a beautiful scenery for photographs of your pets. The rolling hills and wide vistas create a stunning and awe-inspiring backdrop for pet photography. When you have beautiful clear days, you get an amazing sunset with beautiful colours across the skies.

National Arboretum - Himalayan Cedar Forest

The Himalayan Cedar Forest at the National Arboretum has a unique and enchanting aura. The towering cedar trees create a beautiful and calm atmosphere ideal for photographing intimate and emotional pet photographs. Once the sun comes down, we'll also venture up to the top where the Wide Brown Land sculpture sits and get the panoramic view of the arboretum as well as the telstra tower on top of the hill. You also get some stunning sunset colours on those amazing clear days.

National Arboretum - Margaret Whitlam Pavilion

The Margaret Whitlam Pavillion at the National Arboretum features modern architecture and spectacular views. The combination of modern design and natural beauty makes it an ideal location for taking professional and charming pet photos.

Pialligo Redwood Forest

Pialligo Redwood Forest is a breathtaking setting, with towering redwoods around. It is another great area for those dogs who are a bit more anxious as it's generally quiet and there's no one around.

Ina J Photography Studio

Last but not least, my pet photography studio in Canberra has professional lighting, props, and backdrops to create a perfect environment for capturing your pet's personality.
