Because the dogs were quite reactive and nervous around new people, we planned the session carefully. We photographed them at home on their property where they felt safe, and I took my time building trust before we even started taking photographs.
Before the session, we had a consultation where we talked about what mattered most to the family. They already knew they wanted to fill their walls with portraits of their dogs, especially Aaliyah.
Just two days after the session, she passed away. I gave the family the space they needed to grieve before we met again for their ordering appointment a couple of months later.
