One of the thing I love to do at my sunset sessions is to create silhouette photos. A silhouette is an image of a person, animal, object or scene represented as a solid shape of a single colour, usually black, with its edges matching the outline of the subject.

I can only capture silhouette at sunset or at sunrise when the sun is very low in the horizon. The best locations to capture silhouette photos is an open area with a skyline  - The National Arboretum is perfect for this.

Here is a session I did with Max the Cavoodle. The sunset was gorgeous that evening and the sky was so clear with no clouds in sight. We had our photoshoot up at National Arboretum Dairy Farmers Hill Lookout. If you go from the carpark there down towards the west you can see a walkway down a trail and it was a great spot to watch the sunset and capture silhouette images.
